Drake Curriculum
The Drake Curriculum is designed to help all students within the university aquire the fundamental knowledge, behaviors, and skills that every Drake graduate should possess.
The innovative Drake Curriculum gives you multiple choices in acquiring the knowledge and abilities you need to meet your goals and expand your options throughout your life. Instead of making you complete a made-for-every-student program of study that limits your learning, the Drake Curriculum gives you opportunities across the curriculum and within your major.
You will work with your academic adviser to first assess your educational and professional goals and needs and then create a rigorous, individualized plan to help you achieve those goals. You'll begin with a First-Year Seminar - small classes (20 students, tops) on topics that hone your analytical, critical thinking and communication skills and your creativity. In all the courses you take, you will acquire knowledge and abilities in key areas such as communication, critical thinking, information technology, multicultural understanding and the arts. You then will conclude with a Senior Capstone - a research project, thesis or other major work that demonstrates your ideas and abilities.
