Drake’s admission counselors will assist you through the process, so you’ll spend less time worrying about the paperwork and more time diving into academia.

Transfer Applicants
(except in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences' PharmD program)

Drake welcomes transfer students from two- and four-year institutions. Transfer applicants with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 ("C") on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent, for all college work attempted at an accredited institution are considered for admission to Drake University. However, a 2.5 minimum cumulative GPA is recommended. Transfer applicants must be in good academic standing at the last institution attended. Admission to specific programs and majors may require a higher GPA.

If you are transferring to Drake and have not completed at least 24 semester hours of transfer credit at the point of application, you must furnish all the information required for admission as a high school senior, plus an official transcript from each college you have attended. If you have completed a minimum of 24 semester hours at the point of application, you need only furnish an official transcript from each college you’ve attended, along with the completed application for admission. All transcripts must bear the official seal and signature of the official in charge of records and be sent directly to the Drake Office of Admission by each institution. Transcripts that have been in the student’s possession are not considered official documents. The $25 application fee is waived for all undergraduate students who apply online.

A transfer applicant who has studied at a foreign post-secondary institution for any period of time must provide official transcripts from that institution. Photocopies of transcripts or courses and grades listed on another school's transcript cannot be accepted as official. In appropriate cases, English translations must be provided.

The transfer student priority deadline for admission, scholarships, financial aid and housing for the fall term is March 1; spring term December 1; summer term April 15.

Transfer Applicants to the PharmD Program in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences

Students are considered for admission only to the professional level of the pharmacy program. Admission is not offered to transfer applicants at the preprofessional level. All professional-program applicants must complete the application offered by the Pharmacy College Application Service (PharmCAS), only available at www.pharmcas.org, not the Drake University application for admission.

Drake's application deadline is January 4, 2008, and early application, preferably in the fall, is strongly recommended. PCAT scores must be submitted directly to PharmCAS at code 104. More information on pharmacy admission is available here.

Transferring credit and hours

When you enroll at Drake, you may transfer up to 94 credit hours for all majors except pharmacy, which accepts up to 125 credits. A maximum of 66 credits may be transferred from two-year institutions. Up to 16 credit hours of vocational-technical courses may be accepted at the discretion of the assistant or associate dean of the Drake college or school in which you want to enroll. Courses accepted for transfer credits must parallel courses offered at Drake, or otherwise be appropriate for college-level credit. Drake considers full transfer credit for courses in which you have received a grade of "A," "B," "C" (where "C" is equal to 2.0) or the equivalent of "P" on a pass-fail system (where "P" indicates a quality of work no lower than "C" on a conventional grading scale). A minimum of 30 semester hours must be completed while in residence at Drake.
