Order of Omega
Order of Omega is the Greek honor society which initiates the top 3% of fraternity and sorority juniors and seniors each year. The National Order of Omega was founded at the University of Miami on April 14, 1959.
The Delta Iota Chapter at Drake University was chartered on March 15, 1982; however, this honor society had its beginning in a group called Gamma Gamma organized at Drake in the fall of 1964. Gamma Gamma was founded at Iowa State University in 1960 and Drake was the second campus to start a chapter. Between 1964 and 1981, there were 329 individuals initiated into Drake’s Gamma Gamma chapter. When Gamma Gamma was unable to become a national honor society, Iowa State opted to affiliate with the Order of Omega and Drake voted to follow their lead on February 5th, 1982. The group became dormant in 2000 but the Delta Iota Chapter of Order of Omega was reactivated on May 4, 2004.
The group looks forward to continue strengthening ties between the fraternity and sorority community and faculty, find ways to recognize the accomplishments of the community and getting order of Omega involved on campus.
