Build on your success

Become a mentor and life-long learner with an advanced degree — expand your teaching skills, develop new specialties, or acquire those needed to succeed as a counselor or administrator.

Graduate level education includes master’s, specialist and doctoral degrees in effective teaching, educational leadership, adult learning and organizational performance, school, mental health and rehabilitation counseling. All classes are offered in the evening and on weekends year-round.

Students who have earned a bachelor's degree in a field other than education can earn a master's degree and an Iowa Teaching Certificate in two specialized methods programs: Master of Arts in Teaching (secondary) or Master of Science in Teaching (elementary).

Endorsement-Only Programs are designed for certified teachers in pursuit of additional State of Iowa Teaching Endorsements. Endorsements are offered in both K-8 (elementary) and 5-12 (secondary) teaching levels. Course for endorsements are offered on Drake’s main campus and at several locations around the state, as well as online. In most cases, the completed endorsement credits can be rolled into the Teacher Effectiveness and Professional Development Master’s Degree Program.
