Project Description

The Web and portal project will help the University provide accurate, current information about all aspects of Drake to all constituencies presented in an attractive, easy-to-follow way.

The project will:

  • Provide customized Web experiences to alumni and prospective students, as well as to affinity groups such as parents, athletic supporters, etc.
  • Enable these external constituencies, such as alumni, to provide information that we can capture directly into Banner. This will enable them to update and correct information, and enter new information or expand the depth of information we have.
  • Provide Web-based services to faculty, staff and students through a single customized point of access. These portals will have “channels” customized to meet individual needs, such as MyDUSIS, Blackboard, email, events calendar and Library services.
  • Provide a secure environment for portal pages, and specific services available there, by axn appropriate authentication and authorization system.
  • Provide a way to manage the Web pages constituting the Drake site.
  • Create a database of information and “official” pages, so that pages are only entered or changed once, and those changes are replicated automatically across the Web site.
  • Help schools and other units provide consistent, current data in a way which resonates with their constituencies and which reflects their membership in the Drake community.
  • Use software, policies and procedures which make it easy to update pages, consistent with quality control of the Drake site, so that the CMS becomes the tool of choice.
  • Shape policies and procedures that keep Web material accurate and fresh.
